How to Make Sure Your Web Site will Bring ResultsOctober 31, 2006 2:54 pm by Jarom Adair
3 Steps to Effective Web Site Marketing and Promotion
I get calls on a regular basis from business owners who ask me if I could “take a quick look over their site and see what I think.” This usually translates into “We’d like to make sure there aren’t any major, blatant problems with our web site before we bring more people to it.” It may be a new site or it may be an established site about to experience increased traffic from a new marketing campaign. Regardless, your business web site needs to work well with your marketing and promotion efforts.
I’m happy to spend 10 minutes on the phone giving anyone my thoughts about their web site (feel free to contact me), but there are a few things I usually touch on no matter the situation. The top three are…

How to Think Like a Professional Marketer
“I can’t hardly wrap my mind around how big a market is.” said Shawn Nelson, CEO of LoveSac at a lecture I attended. Shawn sells what are, in essence, bean bag chairs. He’s opened several stores around Utah, has spawned several competitors, and still hasn’t saturated his market. I thought he would have gone out of business by now. I figured he’d sell a couple hundred LoveSacs, fulfill all the pent up demand from the 80’s, and then there’d be nobody left to sell to. Yet he consistently sells hundreds of these things every month.
There’s enough people out there for any decent product or service to be successful. The trick is to know how to market to those people. If you knew what professional marketers know, your chances of having a highly successful marketing campaign would increase dramatically. The money you spent reaching out to your target market would come back to you with dividends. You’d have fun doing it too.

How to Build the Best Web Site Possible on Any Budget
I’ve got a great idea–I want to write a program that will instantly create the perfect web site for every business. I’ll hook a few diodes up to the business owner, plug them into my computer, and 10 minutes later their business dream site will be complete. This process will be fueled entirely by the love and passion that the business owner possesses for their business, thereby ensuring that those with the most enthusiasm for their work will have the best sites. Business owners who have no passion for their work and don’t believe in their company will get mediocre sites.
The picture here is an initial concept of what the process might look like:
But until I get this idea up and running businesses are going to have to get their ideal site the traditional way, which usually involves a decent chunk of change and a good time investment.
Time and MoneyBoth time and money are necessary to building the ideal web site, but these are the two things most businesses are a bit short on. So what’s a business owner supposed to do to create a great site? Take out a loan and hire an in-house professional web team? Take two weeks off to learn Front Page and build a site themselves?
There are more options out there than most business owners realize. read more…
My Site Isn’t Selling Anything!!July 4, 2006 4:05 pm by Jarom Adair
The score is web site: $3,500 — web sales: $0
This is the nightmare of all business owners who have just invested in a web site. When it comes to a business’s profits, web sites are supposed to make noises like a cash register (”ka-ching!”), not like a toilet (”flush!”).
